Welcome to IEEE EMC Society Madras Chapter...

The Madras chapter of the IEEE EMC Society has been formed in 2013, with the intention of providing a common platform for the EMC community in the geographical region. The region, one of the international technical hubs, housing many global IT and automotive industries and also over 400 Engineering colleges offering graduate and post-graduate courses will be able to provide a lot to the EMC community via collaborative activities

IEEE EMC Society Madras Chapter jointly with Society of EMC Engineers (India) Chennai Chapter, and SAMEER - Centre for Electromagnetics, Chennai is  organizing a seminar on "Wireless MIMO Near and Far Field Measurement Challenges" by Shri. Dheena Moongilan, Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Bell Laboratories of Nokia on May 10, 2018 between 2.00 PM - 4.00 PM ay SAMEER-CEM Auditorium, Chennai.

Past Events
The IEEE EMC Society Madras Chapter is organising a Distinguished Lecturer Program titled “Demystifying Signal Integrity in High-Speed Designs” by Professor Ram Achar, Department of Electronics, Carleton University, Canada at SAMEER-CEM. Chennai on July 6, 2016. The registration for the programme is free. However you are requested to register for the programme here.

IEEE EMC Society Madras Chapter organised a one day Technical Seminar on “Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) – Education, Industrial and Research Perspectives” jointly with Dr.Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi on March 28, 2015. The primary aim in organising the event was to take a first step into motivating the young people, researchers and faculty members in the area of the EMI/EMC and to make them understand about the importance, avenues and opportunities.

A half day workshop on EMC as part of the IEEE EMC-S Expert Lecture Series was conducted by the EMC Society Madras Chapter on March 20, 2014. The EMC-S Expert lecture series is being conducted by the chapter aiming in bringing the global EMC expertise to the benefit of regional industries and researchers. In addition to the knowledge sharing, the chapter also provides this event as an opportunity for the participants to interact with the internationally renowned personalities. Prof. Sergio A. Pignari, Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy and Dr. Garth D’Abreu, Director of RF Engineering, ETS-Lindgren, Texas delivered lectures on topics "Immunity Testing by Bulk Current Injection" and "Automotive Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing" respectively at the event

The IEEE Madras Section Annual General body Meeting  was held on February 22, 2014 at the Alumni hall, Anna University, Chennai. At the event the EMC-S Madras Chapter Chairman Dr. B. Subbarao was felicitated for the contributions towards the chapter management. The Chapter was also awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation and cash prize for the number of chapter activities  organised during the calendar year 2013. The award was presented to the chapter executive members by Shri T. S. Rangarajan, the chairman, Madras section. Chapter chair and executive members expressed happiness to receive the award during first year of chapter formation and regarded this as an achievement. The members hoped to carry forward the activities to newer heights in the coming years. 

Technical Seminar on “Application of Electromagnetics” was conducted by the IEEE EMC-S Madras Chapter jointly with the Hindustan university on 28th February 2014.

lecture titled "An Introduction to Software Defined Radio for Microwave Engineers" will be delivered by Dr. Jeffrey Pawlan, IEEE MTT-S Distinguished Microwave Lecturer, Pawlan Communications, San Jose CA, USA on January 16, 2014. The lecture will begin with the definition, history and evolution of Software Defined Radio (SDR). RF/microwave engineers will find it clear and understandable because analogies will be made to conventional classic radio systems and components.

A one Day Seminar titled Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Education, Industrial and Research Perspectives was held on Saturday, 28th September 2013 at Muthayammal Engineering College, Rasipuram-637408, NamakkalDt, Tamilnadu. The event is targeted for the eingineering faculty as well as students. The event was jointly organised by IEEE EMC Society Madras Chapter and Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Muthayammal Engineering College.

The IEEE EMC Scoiety Madras Chapter Inaugural meeting was held on July 12, 2013. A lecture titled "A practitioners 

approach to EMC testing with reverberation chambers" was deliver by Dr. Dr. Vignesh Rajamani of Oklahoma State University who is in the panel of IEEE EMC-S Distinguished Lecture.
